Wadi Rum, Jordan
May 2002
Wadi Rum has some of the most spectacular desert scenery anywhere in
the world. Lawrence of Arabia spent quite a bit of time here during the
Arab Revolt, and many of the scenes from the film were shot here. Very
cool. I absolutely love the film of Lawrence of Arabia and it was
great being out in the desert where it was shot.
We spent two days driving and walking around among dunes and
bizarre, soaring rock formations, known as jebels. One of the
best parts was spending a night under the stars after a arab stle dinner
of rice and chicken. I've never seen so many stars in my life - or
shooting stars and satellites either. Absolutely phenomenal.
