Can't quite remember where these photos were taken but suspect it's the lake near Konya.  Maybe Tuz Golu.  To tell you the truth, none of us at the time were quite sure where we were and just took an educated guess.

Motorcycle in a former greek village near Izmir probably.  After Ataturk won the 1923 War of Independence and pushed the invading Greeks into the sea near Izmir, a massive exchange of populations took place where one million Greeks moved out and half a million Turks moved in.  Not all into this village obviously.
