Luhacovice Again, Czech Republic

Luhacovice
Before starting At Stentra,
I went back to Prague to visit Lenka and ended up spending most of my time
sleeping, shopping for shoes and going back to Luhacovice.
Here's a few more photos.
Winter was in full swing.

The local railway between
towns.

Czech republic at speed.

Old Trabant station wagon
abandoned out the back of a tool shed along with a concrete mixing and
other machinery. You've come along way baby!

Driving along snow covered
roads with no-one in sight. We had to take it pretty easy.

Well ... almost.
Someone coming the other way.

And this is a shot of Lenka
and a broomstick full of preserved (and decorated as people) sausages and
meats that Lenka's mother made for a relative's 50th birthday party.
I have to say it was quite possibly the strangest gift I've ever seen
given as a birthday present. .
It was quite an interesting
party as a lot of people got drunk and then got up and danced to daggy
songs played by a old man on an electric piano. Despite all the
songs being in Czech, I actually recognised one of them - Sloop John B by
the Beach Boys. I mentioned this to someone and ended up having to
get up in front of everyone and sing it in English. The dancing was
fun and I danced with both Lenka and her Lenka's mother, and got a good
spank on the butt from each of them for my efforts. Yes!!!
I also spent some time
talking to Lenka's grandfather. He was half German and got
conscripted into the German Army during World War 2. After spending
a bit of time flying Fieseler FI156 Storch (Stork) reconnaissance planes,
he deserted because he never wanted to be in the army in the first place.
He spent a lot of time hiding with friends and family in the the Czech
republic and towards the end of the war, almost got shot by Russian troops
who thought he was a spy. Fortunately, he know a bit of Russian and they
let him go. Phew!
