One Day In Prague, Czech
Republic
Jan
2004
I only spent a day ...
looking around the capital of the Czech Republic. Have to say it's
one loses interest in tourist activities when the temperature is below
zero and it's snowing.
I really need to go back in
summer when the weather is warmer.
Our little tourist day
consisted of walking around Prague Castle and the old town. I
couldn't believe what I found in the old town (no pictures unfortunately)
... a llama of all things. I saw heaps of them in South America and
here was one in snow bound Prague. Incredible.
Prague
Castle
Lenka and I spent some time
czeching out Prague Castle. According to the Guiness Book Of Records, it's
the largest ancient castle in the world - 570m long, an average of 128m
wide and covering a total area bigger than seven football (soccer) fields.

Changing of the guard.
More serious and unhappy conscripts.

St Vitus Cathedral

Blurred windows inside the
cathedral.

Golden Lane.

The presidential palace.
The President was in town apparently according to the flag outside.

Me and Lenka outside the
Presidential Palace inside the castle.

Lenka and I went to the Toy
Museum inside the castle. One of the key exhibits was the Barbie
Collection. Strolling through the different barbie displays reminded
me of a t-shirt I once saw 'I hate Barbie ... that bitch has got
everything!'. The picture above shows Barbie dressed by fashion
designers. See
here for
more photos by someone else.

Barbie dressed in doll haute
couture. The picture on the right ... well, I found that on a czech
website for visitors and ex pats.

Stairway leading up to the
castle.

View of Prague from the
castle. The black tower ... well I can't what that it is but it is
historically significant. To tell you the truth, I was freezing my
arse off and wasn't that interested.

Old Town

The old town at dusk.

Car with graffiti on the
back. Someone was obviously dreaming of a 'white xmas'.
