Luxembourg City

Luxembourg, April 2005

After leaving Tournai, Anka and I decided to make a sprint down to Luxembourg and check it out before heading back into Belgium.  Despite travelling at the speed of light down the freeways, we never made it.  Roadworks and time was against us.  After spending an hour or more moving at a snails pace in the dark, we veered off towards Bastogne and resolved to get up early and try again the next morning.

I'm not sure I'm glad we did.  We got there at about 9am and despite all the nice buildings, we both found the place completely boring and left 3-4 hours later.  That's the great thing about having your own transport, if the place sucks (in your own humble opinion), you can leave whenever you want.

At least the weather was nice.

Around Town

Central Luxembourg City facing the Boulevard Roosevelt and the Cathedral Notre Dame

Place Guillaume II.  They had a little market happening.  Great for buying picnic supplies and sampling strange meats and cheeses.

Little girl and fountain.

Sentry box.

View of the valleys behind the palace.

Anka with the same view.  I remember Anka being very unhappy with me for some reason.  I have no idea what it was now ... and probably didn't have any idea at the time either.

Interesting looking tower on the other side of the valley from the old town
